ACCOMMODATION IN THE BOSTON AREA

June is one of the most popular months to visit Boston, and consequently hotels fill up quickly, and their prices reflect the high demand. We therefore urge you to book rooms as early as possible while rooms at a lower rate are still available. It is preferable to book early and later cancel if your plans change (most hotels have a very reasonable cancellations policy) than to delay and risk not finding the room of your choice.

We have reserved a limited number of hotel rooms at discounted rates for conference delegates at the four hotels listed below. Each hotel is holding rooms for a different range of dates. The rooms are being held until early May, but we strongly recommend that you book well before April 1 to be sure of obtaining a room at these rates, as demand may well exceed supply. These hotels are very close to the meeting venue. In the event you are unable to obtain rooms at these hotels, we have listed additional hotels in the Boston area.

Less expensive accommodation is available on campus in the  MIT dormitories. Please consult the section entitled MIT DORMITORY ACCOMMODATION, which follows the hotel listings.

HOTELS WHERE ROOMS ARE BEING HELD

• Each hotel refers to the name of the conference a different way. To get the conference rate, be sure to quote the conference name as it appears under Booking Reference.
• All prices are per room and exclusive of local taxes (currently 12.45%).
• If you wish to stay additional nights, ask if rooms are available on these nights at the discounted rate. The earlier you book, the better your chances of getting the same lower rate.

MIT DORMITORY ACCOMMODATION

We are holding a limited number of single and double rooms in MIT Dormitories on the MIT campus for the period June 11-19 2005. Due to heavy demand, we have only a few rooms left.

We have singles and doubles in New House, at the west end of campus. New House is a 20 to 30 minute walk from the conference. There is no elevator in New House, and so it may be necessary to climb stairs to your room. A description of New House may be found at http://web.mit.edu/housing/undergrad/residences.html.

Please be advised that these rooms do not come up to the standards of the hotels mentioned above. Dormitory housing consists of a twin bed (single room) or two twin beds (double room). In most dormitories, bathrooms (shared) are co-ed. Rooms have very minimal amenities. Towels, soap, sheets, one blanket and pillow are provided. Anything else, e.g. alarm clock, reading lamp, washcloth, hair dryer, extra coat hanger, etc. would have to be brought by the guest. The rooms are air conditioned. Guests would have to make their own breakfast and dinner arrangements.

Dormitory prices are as follows:

Single room per night $57.00

Double room per night $74.00

If you wish to reserve dormitory accommodation, you must make it through our office. Payment must be received in advance. Rooms will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so we advise you to book as early as possible. Rooms cannot be not guaranteed until payment is received. Because it is now very close to the conference, we cannot hold your room for more than three days without payment.

Please let us know at the time of booking if you would be willing to share a double room. If you share a room, it would not necessarily be for the entire duration of your stay.

If you wish to reserve a room, please email
cmarge@mit.edu first to enquire about availability.

Please include the details as shown below in the email.
